What is FORScan?

For example, FORScan can detect modules which are not visible for regular OBD2 scanners, can show you trouble codes which are never displayed by OBD2 scanners, can show you PIDs which are not supported by any OBD2 scanner, run specific tests and service procedures. In other words, FORScan can do things that regular OBD2 scanners can not do.

Part 1. how-to’s of ELS27 FORScan scanner PCB rework as the genunine ELS27 to enable the SLEEP function.

Part 2. User feeback:which tool is best for F150 truck diagnotic,Ford IDS vs UCDSYS vs ForScan vs FoCCCus

Part 1.This is the how-to’s of ELS27 FORScan scanner PCB rework as the genunine ELS27 to enable the SLEEP function.

If you have a ELS27 FORScan scanner from China, you need rework the PCB same as the genuine first.

ELS27 FORScan scanner china clone– look at this

ELS27-FORScan-scanner-clone-pcb-1 ELS27-FORScan-scanner-clone-pcb-2

In clones, not all components are sealed, so besides the CAN protocol is not any work. If the missing solder components, the K-line likely will work perfectly:

Detect vehicle on-board network configuration
Read and reset Diagnostic Trouble Codes from all modules
Reading of modules’ sensors’ data
Run test diagnostic procedures
Run service procedures

If you the function above is what you need, a ELS27 OBD2 from China will be a good investment coz the genuine ELS27 is three times as expensive as the clone one. Professionals tested the ELS27 clone many times and verified it’s functionality.

This is ELS27 FORScan scanner car list:

http://www.obdexpress.co.uk/wholesale/esl27-forscan-scanner-for-ford-mazda-lincoln-mercury.html

All Ford, Mazda, Lincoln, Mercury vehicles that can be addressed by supported adapters. It is 99% of models after 2000 and around 92% of models after 1996 (the year when OBD2 became a standart in USA).

But the SW CAN definitely not works that on the board there is an error, so sometimes PCB rework is necessary.

This is the original PCB of ELS27 FORScan scanner

genuine-ELS27-pcb-1 genuine-ELS27-pcb-2

If someone needs SLEEP function, do as follows:

ELS27-FORScan-scanner-sleep-function

Please note that by posting 300k goes to the R26 which should unsolder!

By default, the function is disabled in the very STN. For activation we send one by one command in the terminal:

STSLX on, on
the ATZ
STSLCS

should give approximately the following:

the CTRL the MODE: NATIVE
PWR_CTRL: the LOW the PWR = the LOW
the UART the SLEEP: OFF, 1200 s
the UART WAKE: the ON, 0-30000 us
the EXT the INPUT: the LOW the SLEEP =
the EXT the SLEEP: the ON , the LOW the FOR 3000 ms
the EXT WAKE: the ON, the HIGH the FOR 2000 ms
the VL the SLEEP: OFF, <13.00V the FOR 600 s
the VL WAKE: OFF,> 13.20V the FOR 1 s
VCHG WAKE: OFF, 0.20V the IN 1000 ms

If someone is willing to take the risk, you can try without divider. That is, instead of 150K solder jumper and everything, and to do the above in the terminal. I did that on the first board, but does not activate in the STN, respectively my adapter did not fall asleep. But it did not burnt. Wait adapter is not for me, so I can not check.

To see how the adapter is asleep, you must send the computer in Standby mode.

Instead 300k and 150k can be used with a pair of nominal ratio of 2: 1.

Part 2. User feeback:which tool is best for  F150 truck diagnotic,Ford IDS vs UCDSYS vs ForScan vs FoCCCus

What are the “pay for use” options for Ford F150 truck diagnostics: VCM 2 IDS or UCDSYS or ForScan or FoCCCus? What is the best?

Here you go. Tips and guides for you, also incl. test reports from users.

IDS

You can buy a VCM II and lease out time to use IDS from websites that partner with Ford. I think it is around a $80 a day, It isn’t something most people consider and I haven’t looked into it too hard.

Hacked IDS on VMWare

A good VCMII clone (from a trusted source and not eBay) can be had for $175 and is a good choice for anyone thinking of doing firmware updates with FORScan. It’s much better & faster than an ELM27 or ELS27 adapter for firmware flashing.

UCDSYS

The UCDS adapter is also great for flashing

google it but have google translate extension setup in your browser first. They want to sell their product to more people but I feel it is best to leave that one alone too unless if you absolutely understand what you are buying and understand there are no F150 profiles for it.

FoCCCus

– not practical for F150s but it is good to know about. Google that one too.

ForScan

The best option regardless of potential future costs. It has the largest user base, the most support groups, and is undoubtedly the most functional. IDS can do some things better but unless if you have money to burn you are already in the best place.

Pros working for obdexpress.co.uk tested IPC firmware upgrade on Fusion (tried to install IPC from Mondeo and program it). This operation with ELS27 (fastest ELM327-compatible adapter we know) did take 1 hour 20 minutes. Same procedure on UCDS required about 20 minutes.

Note: You cant tune with forscan. You need specialized tools for that. Forscan wont read the strategy from the ECM/ECU (whatever you want to call it) and they’re not a business. Its a forum of russians that reverse-engineered Ford’s IDS

Test and review: started with FORScan on 2018 F150 Lariat FX4 Sport (501A) 3.5L GTDI w/ Max Trailer Tow (1/31/18 delivery).

the changes I made:

Auto Start/Stop – disable (haven’t done the optional display or button yet)

Double-honk w/ key disable (gotta do this on my other Ford also!)

2 Push Panic button on Fob

GT Display option

Engine & Transmission Temps above display (FANTASTIC when I start towing!)

Fake Engine Sound (* I used the EASY version on this one, because I was skeptical the single value change would not remove other functionality. It worked, and kept the other value location I was watching unchanged.)
